PAIIDAM and the Struggle for Development
The main objective of PAIIDAM is the total development of the system as a way of ensuring that irregular and dangerous migration, and all it attendant effect is stopped. It is in the light of this that PAIIDAM conceives Development as the process of expanding the real freedoms that the people must enjoy. Our position is that Development requires the removal of major sources of unfreedom such as youth denial, poverty, tyranny, poor economic opportunities as well as systematic social deprivation, neglect of public facilities as well as intolerance of repressive states. In the idea of PAIIDAM, irregular and dangerous migration (movement) of population alters social and economic structures, deprive the people and nation of resources that would normally (if well utilized) led to internal developmrnt and self dependence; thus increasing the likelihood of subsequent migration. This point has been well propagated by the economy of most of the developed world where our people are regularly migrating to. In 2015, it is estimated that a total of 170,155 migrants illegally crossed the border to Europe of which 7,436 are Nigerians. It is in line with this and to bring an end to it the PAIIDAM is interested in the following * Creating more conducive atmosphere for Nigerians through developing them to be self reliant * Creation of Job opportunities within the country that would prevent such mass exodus; * Training Nigerians to have confidence in the ability of not only the government, but also individual to develop the country.
